Obituary

Deane Knox Fox Jr., Born December 14, 1935 in Brooklyn, New York. He passed away December 3, 2018 after battling Alzheimer's.

Deane or "Skip" as friends and family called him grew up in Port Washington. He and his family spent most weekends and vacations in Orient sailing and playing a little tennis. His dad Deane K. Fox Sr was a founding member of the Orient Yacht Club where they spent time sailing and racing boats.

Skip attended Brown University and then moved to Houston, Texas where he attended the University of Houston. There he met his wife Dorothy Witt and they married in 1959.  Skip had a career in sales to include insurance and plastics industries. His job took him and his family to California for 7 years before transferring back to Texas. He retired in 2008. After retiring enjoyed volunteering at the YMCA, being with family and always sharing stories of his time sailing. One of his favorite things he loved doing on his birthday was eating a big piece chocolate layer cake and a glass of fat free milk. Besides the love of sailing he also enjoyed biking, cooking specifically grilling, veggie shakes and always something "goopy goppy" for dessert.

He will be remembered by friends and family as a loving person with a feisty personality.

Deane was preceded in death by his father Deane K Fox Sr, mother Georgia Case Fox and younger brother George Fox. He is survived by his wife Dorothy K Fox, Daughters Karen Tutt and husband Todd Tutt. Jennie and husband Russell Marshall. Four grandchildren Chance and Nicholas Tutt and Grant and Deane Marshall. Brother Stuart Fox and wife Cathie and three nephews Stuart Fox and George Fox. His other nephew Bo Fox joined him April 6. We are saddened by Bo's loss but comforted knowing they are together. Until we meet again "Sail On"!
