Obituary

James W. Mark passed away peacefully in his home, in Greenport, at age 90 on October 17, 2016. He was pre-deceased by his sisters Jennie & Helen, and his wife of 55 years, Dorothy, for who he provided expert, loving care for over 25 years. Born in Buffalo, Jim grew up in Chinatown, and after his marriage lived in Lynbrook, Malverne, East Marion and for the last 14 years at Peconic Landing all in New York. He served in the US Army in WWII, 78th Infantry Division, ETO, and was a POW in Germany. A soft-spoken man, Jim was quietly passionate about his beliefs, the Mets, the Giants, travel, friends and family (who loved traveling with him). He was kind, warm and generous to all who knew him, and he will be dearly missed by his many nieces/nephews, grand nieces/nephews and great grand nieces/nephews, as well as by friends at Peconic Landing and St. Peter`s Lutheran Church, and others who were touched by his kindness and good humor. Visitation will be at the Horton-Mathie Funeral Home on Friday, October 21st, from 3 - 7 pm. An 11:00 am Funeral Service will be held at St. Peter`s Lutheran Church, Main Road & Chapel Lane, on Saturday, October 22nd. Burial, with Army Honor Guard, will follow at East Marion Cemetery.

October 21 Time: 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm
