Demetra Hirsch Obituary

Demetra (Dede) G. Hirsch (Arapakis) was born February 26, 1935 and passed away at age of 86 on Sunday, March 7, 2021, surrounded by loved ones.

Raised in Westbury, New York on Long Island, at 18 she married the late Jordan P. Yale. They settled in East Norwich to raise their three children. She later moved to a home is Syosset with her second husband, the late Raymond Hirsch.

Dede was the loving mother of the late Robert A. Yale of OysterBay, Donna Lamm of Medford NY, and Melanie Nardiello of
Oyster Bay NY. She was a doting Grandmother to Meghan Krystyniak of Quincy MA , Nicole Gorle of Centereach NY, Stephanie Lauf of Medford NY., Alexa Erlagen of Oyster Bay NY, and Jordana Nardiello of Oyster Bay NY. She was, as well, a much-loved Great-Grandmother to Dominique Cook, Matthew and Jacob Krystyniak of Quincy MA, and Lucas Gorle of Centereach NY. She was awaiting the arrival of another great grandson, Ellis Erlagen of Oyster Bay.

She is survived by her sisters Vicky Gost of Moorestown NJ and Maria Arapakis of Denver CO, her nieces Kym and Karyn Gost of New Jersey, and her nephews David and Mark Houghton of California.

A celebration of her life will be planned at later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her name to www.Jsrdf.org or www.stjude.org, two foundations near and dear to Dede’s heart .
