Norton, Edward “Sonny” King., age 89, of Riverhead, formerly of Greenport, NY passed away peacefully at his daughter’s home on April 16, 2018. Loving father of Gary S. Norton, Angela Norton and the late Robert M. Norton . Devoted grandfather of 5 and great-grandfather of 10. Dear brother of Geraldine Troast. Cherished brother in-law of Peter, Mary Lou and Jeannine and Uncle to many. Ed enjoyed photography, skiing and sailing. Ed became a Local 638 Steamfitter’s helper, a Steamfitter and then Business Agent. Joined Mayor Koch’s administration as a Deputy Commissioner in the Department of General Services. He managed several large construction projects including, South Street Seaport, The Municipal Building and the Statue of Liberty. Upon retiring he went to work as an Executive Vice President for Morse Diesel International. Ed took immense pride in all of his professional endeavors including renovations at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Baruch College and Lincoln Center. He spent his retirement as a snowbird between Florida and Greenport. He traveled the world and enjoyed everyday.
