Harry Winfield Thurber Jr.

June 28, 1929 ~ March 24, 2020 (age 90) 90 Years Old

Harry Thurber Jr. Obituary

Harry Winfield Thurber, Jr. passed peacefully from this world into Heaven on March 24, 2020 at the age of 90, at the Peconic Landing Retirement Community in Greenport, NY.  Born in Bay Shore, NY, he was the faithful husband of Nancy (Cummings) Thurber, who herself passed away the following day at Peconic Landing.  He was the brother of the late Calvin Stewart Thurber of Chester, CA and the father of Susan (Thurber) Fisher of Telford, PA and Scott Thurber of East Greenwich, RI.  

Harry passed peacefully, aware and thankful, holding the hand of his son.  Harry was buried along with, and next to, his beloved Nancy on March 30th at Oakwood Cemetery in Bay Shore, NY.

Harry is survived by Susan and Scott, his daughter-in-law Terry Ann Thurber and son-in-law Nick Custer and by five grandchildren & nine great-grandchildren.

A Service of Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at the First Presbyterian Church, Southold, NY.  There will be a short reception outside after the service to meet the family.  All are welcome to attend and masks are required.
