Jill Griffing Muir, age 75, of Orient, NY died on January 4, 2018. She was born in Greenport, NY and grew up in East Marion attending the old 2-room schoolhouse there, and graduated from Greenport High School in 1960.  She then attended Adelphi University in Garden City and then completed the Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School in New York City. After several years as a legal secretary in Manhattan, Greenport and San Francisco, she went to work for the Suffolk County Probation Department, where she remained for over 40 years, retiring in 2008. Jill was a well-known yard sale buff, weekly scouring the neighborhoods and, for many years, holding a big yard sale at her home in Orient overlooking the causeway. She also indulged a lifelong passion for the movies by amassing a large film collection, to which she devoted many hours of cataloging and viewing. She is survived by her son Jonathan Muir of Holbrook, NY and her step-siblings William E. Park, Jr., David M. Park and Susan Park Utz.  Private cremation. Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, January 13th. 2-5 p.m. at Horton-Mathie Funeral Home.
